Fox Sports has appointed Eric Shanks president. Mr. Shanks joined Fox Sports in 1994 as a broadcast associate and went on to become VP-enhanced programming for Fox Television Networks. He then joined DirectTV in 2004 as senior VP-advanced services, and was named exec VP of DirectTV entertainment in 2006, a position he held until returning to Fox. Mr. Shanks is a six-time Emmy Award-winner and a member of the Sports Business Journal's "40 Under 40" Hall of Fame.
Meredith Corp. has named Christine Guilfoyle publisher of More magazine. Most recently, Ms. Guilfoyle was the publisher of Women's Wear Daily, where she was responsible for advertising for WWD and wwd.com. From 2005-2007, Ms. Guilfoyle was the launch publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray, which was recognized as the "Launch of the Year" by Advertising Age. Prior to her role at Every Day with Rachael Ray, she was advertising director for Meredith's Better Homes & Gardens magazine.
Steve DeLuca has been appointed VP-publisher of Departures, published exclusively for American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members. Mr. DeLuca was most recently VP-publisher of Details. He also served as publisher of Rolling Stone and associate publisher of Conde Nast Traveler, Maxim and InStyle.
BBDO has tapped Jeff Kenyon as exec VP-group planning director on AT&T. He was most recently a group planning director at Ogilvy & Mather in New York and has also honed his skills at agencies such as Fallon (Minneapolis and New York), Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Ogilvy & Mather, working on brands including MTV, Nikon, Time, Miller, Fox Sports and Hewlett-Packard, in addition to his most recent responsibilities on American Express ("My life, my card") and IBM ("Smarter Planet").
Taras Wayner has been promoted to VP-executive creative director of R/GA. Since coming to the agency in 2007 from Berlin Cameron United, Mr. Wayner has worked for clients including Ad Council, Ameriprise, Verizon and Walmart, earning awards such as the D&AD Pencil, Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils, and Clios along the way.
Mercury Media has named William A. Cunningham VP-finance of its Marlboro, Mass. and Philadelphia offices, as well as VP-chief accounting officer of Diversified Mercury Communications Holding Company and its subsidiaries. Before joining the direct-response media agency, Mr. Cunningham was VP-controller of Lin TV Corp, a public TV and digital-media company. Other past positions include senior VP-chief financial officer of SF Broadcasting (a joint venture between Savoy Pictures Entertainment and Fox Television Stations), VP-finance and administration for Fox News and VP-finance and administration with WTTG-TV, owned by Fox Television Stations.
Shahid Khan has joined MediaMorph as chairman and chief strategist. He comes to the digital-media measurement platform from IBB Consulting Group, where he was a senior partner, working with companies such as Sony Entertainment, Viacom and Disney to launch initiatives across digital media. Prior to IBB, Mr. Khan was managing director, head of entertainment industry practices at KPMG Consulting/BearingPoint, and before that he was a client services partner at IBM global services.
Bpg has promoted Andy Robbins from exec VP-interactive to the newly created role of chief operating officer. In his new role at the agency, Mr. Robbins will spearhead the development, design and improvement of all systems while also continuing to lead its growing interactive department. Prior to bpg, Mr. Robbins served as head of theatrical marketing for Palm Pictures, as well as senior VP-marketing and new media at Miramax.
