NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The Home Depot this morning will announce the appointment of a former General Motors Corp. executive as senior vice president of marketing.

Roger W. Adams, who was formerly executive director of corporate advertising, marketing and CRM at GM, will report to John Costello, Home Depot's executive vice president of merchandising and marketing.

Mr. Adams, 48, will be responsible for the Home Depot's marketing, advertising, brand management and event marketing.

The move spins out some of the duties Mr. Costello had consolidated after he arrived at Home Depot in November 2002 and consolidated marketing and merchandising functions as part of the chain's turnaround efforts.
