$30 Million Ad Account in Limbo

By Published on .

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- IHOP Corp., Glendale, Calif., elevated its president and chief operating officer, Julia Stewart, to chief executive officer.

She succeeds Richard Herzer, 70, who will continue as chairman of the midscale restaurant chain. Ms. Stewart, 46, joined IHOP in December 2001 and was expected to assume the CEO post.

The chain's $30 million advertising account is in limbo after creative shop Heil Brice Retail Advertising, Newport Beach, Calif., resigned the account last week.

An IHOP spokesman declined to comment on whether the chain will launch an advertising review until after it reports earnings today after the market closes.
