Mark Wilmot to Integrate $300 Million Account Within Holding Company

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- An executive at soon-to-be-shuttered D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, New York, is going to Interpublic Group of Cos. to integrate the holding company's $300 million Burger King account.

Mark Wilmot joins Interpublic as client management director for all Burger King-related business, and reports to Interpublic Vice Chairman David Bell.

executive vice president and management director at Publicis Groupe-owned D'Arcy, has a prior relationship with the country's No. 2 burger chain. Mr. Wilmot earlier ran the fast-food chain's field marketing account before Burger King shifted those duties to Interpublic's Deutsch, Los Angeles.

Rick Dow, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Burger King, confirmed Mr. Wilmot will be the "principal responsible for pulling [Interpublic's] resources together" on the account.

Interpublic consolidation
In July, Burger King began consolidating much of its business with Interpublic, which said it would hire a single leader to integrate the account across its agencies. Other Burger King roster shops at the holding company include Media First International, New York, which handles media planning and buying assignments; ad agency Campbell-Mithun, Minneapolis; and promotions shop DraftWorldwide, Chicago.

Mr. Wilmot is the third such executive within the holding company with responsibility over a sizeable account. Steve Hardwick, managing director, heads the Bank of America account, and William Grogan is director of Coca-Cola brands and an executive vice president at McCann-Erickson Worldwide.
