Change Is Part of Transition Plan Under New Ownership

CINCINNATI (AdAge.com) -- Market research firm Information Resources Inc. today named a former Electronic Data Systems Corp. executive as its new president-CEO. The move is part of a transition plan following the company's acquisition by Gingko Acquisition Corp. last year, according to an IRI spokesman.

consumer industries and retail business of EDS, succeeds CEO Joe Durrett, who left the company. Mr. Klein assumes the IRI position effective immediately, the spokesman said. Mr. Klein will report to Romesh Wadhwani, chairman of IRI.

Pending litigation
Mr. Durrett, reached by phone, said he plans to continue his work chairing the board that manages IRI's antitrust litigation against VNU's ACNielsen Corp. A U.S. District Court in New York last month postponed a September 2004 trial date in response to ACNielsen's motion seeking more time for discovery.

Mr. Durrett said he is not familiar with Mr. Klein, but called Mr. Wadhwani an "extremely smart and capable person." He added: "I think IRI is in good hands."

IRI tracks and analyzes retail sales, consumer trends and effectiveness of marketing vehicles using retail scanner and consumer panel data.
