Dennis Ryan to Join New Quaker Oats Shop

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- After weeks of speculation, Omnicom Group's yet-to-be named agency may soon have its top creative.

Dennis Ryan, executive creative director at WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson, Chicago, is leaving the agency and is expected to head creative at the Omnicom shop being built around the $350 million Quaker Oats Co. business, according to executives close to the situation.

been considered the chief candidate for the post because of his extensive food and beverage experience. Mr. Ryan joined Thompson four years ago from group creative director on  Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser account at Omnicom's DDB Worldwide, Chicago, and has since helped shape creative for the Kraft Foods and Miller Brewing Co. business at JWT.

The PepsiCo-owned Quaker Oats business moved to the new agency from Interpublic Group of Cos.' Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago, after Interpublic bought FCB's parent True North Communications.

Quaker Oats' defection led to three lawsuits, which last week were settled out of court.

An Omnicom representative declined to comment.
