had been handled by Rick Weisehen, who was promoted in May 2000 to marketing director from a brand manager.

The job search may have been initiated by Peter Butterfield, who joined the automaker last November as executive VP-sales and marketing from Volvo Cars of North America. He was promoted the following month to chief operating officer.

Kia's parent, Hyundai Motors, recently awarded Kia's media account to Aegis Group's Carat. Creative is still with independent davidandgoliath, Los Angeles.
