Since August 2001, Mr. Garfinkel has been president and chief creative officer at D'Arcy Worldwide, a global network now owned by Publicis Groupe. The agency was formerly part of Bcom3 Group, which was acquired by Publicis earlier this year.

In October, Publicis announced plans to shutter D'Arcy. Weeks later, Publicis' chairman-CEO, Maurice Levy, offered Mr. Garfinkel a position as worldwide creative director with the Publicis Worldwide network.

Calls to Mr. Garfinkel were not returned at press time.
