Brad Brinegar Will Not Be Replaced

By Published on .

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Brad Brinegar, 45, CEO of Bcom3 Group's Leo Burnett USA, is leaving the agency, according to executives close to Burnett.

He returned to Burnett in July 2000 as chief operating officer after a failed effort to launch a Chicago office of Interpublic Group of Cos.' Ammirati Puris Lintas. In January, he was elevated to CEO.

Mr. Brinegar will not be replaced because the agency is attempting to streamline management, according to one executive.

19 years at Burnett
Outside of his stint at Ammirati, Mr. Brinegar has been with Burnett for 19 years. He joined the agency in 1979 as a media trainee, shifting to client service two years later.

Mr. Brinegar, reached by phone this evening, would neither confirm nor deny his departure. A Burnett spokesman also would neither confirm nor deny the move.

Earlier this week, the agency imported one of its top creatives from the London office to serve in a new post as deputy chief creative officer.
