CHICAGO (Adage.com) -- Linda Wolf, chairman-CEO of Leo Burnett Worldwide, Chicago, is passing the torch to designated successor Tom Bernardin in a long-expected move.

Mr. Bernardin, president of Publicis Groupe’s Burnett Worldwide and CEO of U.S. operations, takes the top post effective May 1. He was heir apparent since he was hired last February. Ms. Wolf is retiring after 25 years at Burnett

Mr. Bernardin previously was CEO of Bozell, New York. He took the reins of Lowe, New York, when that agency absorbed Bozell. Both agencies were part of Interpublic Group of Cos.

"I have complete confidence in Tom’s ability to lead what is one of the world’s best agency networks towards continued success," Ms. Wolf said.
