Mr. Martinez was also named chief financial officer for the now-defunct Outboard Marine Corp.
He succeeds Senior Vice President and Director of Finance Paul Eichelman, who is relocating to London as regional finance director for Burnett's Europe/Middle East/Africa regions.
Mr. Martinez, 38, had earlier been assistant treasurer for Favorite Brands International and served in other finance positions for IMC Global, General Electric Co. and Amoco Corp. In those posts, he negotiated multimillion-dollar acquisitions, completed a $1 billion joint venture and managed large bond offerings and repurchases, according to an internal Burnett memo.
"Now, his financial savvy and resourcefulness will be put to work for us," said the memo.
In his new post, Mr. Martinez will be responsible for managing financial processes, facilities and operations as the agency works toward "profitable growth."
