COO to Fill Post on Interim Basis

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- The U.S. president of Long John Silver's is leaving the company to return to Wisconsin and start a business, the company said.

Kevin Armstrong will step down the the end of the week.

"We're just sick about it," said Mike Baker, vice president of national marketing for the Lexington, Ky.-based chain, which was recently acquired by Yum Brands.

Mr. Armstrong's duties

will be assumed on an interim basis by Chief Operating Officer Ron Powell. Decisions on how the post will be filled will likely come from Yum Brands, Mr. Baker said.

The chain recently awarded advertising duties to Yum roster shop BBDO Worldwide, New York, part of Omnicom Group, following a review.

Mr. Armstrong could not immediately be reached for comment.
