Mr. Gilbert confirmed the news today, saying that "there is some restructuring going on."
Roles being determined
Roles are still being worked out, though Mr. Burns is most likely to focus on the General Mills account, among others, while Mr. Gilbert will continue overseeing operations and may play a greater role with on the Procter & Gamble Co., said Mr. Gilbert, who along with Mr. Burns had been managing partners.
The New York office had previously been run by a team of managing partners that included Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Burns, Tom Lom and Tod Seisser. Tim Love, vice chairman, remains unaffected by the changes.
Mr. Gilbert said the company is discussing other roles for Mr. Lom, perhaps at a Publicis health-care unit. Mr. Lom had run the Tylenol account. Tylenol and its related brands, part of Johnson & Johnson, are departing to Interpublic Group of Cos.' Deutsch. Mr. Seisser will continue as chief creative officer.
Earlier this week the agency confirmed it was laying off around 50 staff members across the board in New York. Cindy Kemp, who was just appointed chief marketing officer in late November, is also leaving the agency, Mr. Gilbert said. Ms. Kemp was to have focused on internal and external communications.
