Max Goldberg became VP-promotion for Walt Disney Co.'s Buena Vista Home Entertainment unit in 1993, and helped the division become a powerhouse of promotional tie-ins to home videos with marketers including General Mills, Eastman Kodak Co. and Pillsbury Co. This year, Mr. Goldberg was named VP-integrated marketing for Buena Vista Internet Group, overseeing the Go Network (www.go.com), a joint venture between Infoseek and Disney, which owns 40% of the venture.

Age: 47.

Working on: Taking the at-retail world onto the Internet and, through electronic commerce, give consumers the kind of shopping experience they've had with Disney products and stores.

Fact: We're still early in the development cycle of the Internet, but it's the fastest-growing medium in the history of civilization. There is no other medium that gives consumers so much power and control.

Insight: Promotions online work just like promotions in the offline world: you can have value, free samples, coupons, continuity, sweepstakes and games of skill, but you can actually do more with such promotions through interactivity.

Prediction: The Internet will become the indispensible tool for making purchases
