Mills, 32, is a New York-based designer/filmmaker who has made his mark in a wide range of media. Steeped in skateboard culture, he's done album covers for bands like Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys. He also designed the logo for X-Girl clothing, and he's created board graphics for several skate and snowboard companies. With music videos for Frank Black and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion under his belt, Mills recently directed several spots in Nike's "What Are You Getting Ready For?" campaign, including, of course, "Ledge," which features a skateboarder and a potential suicide.
Mike Bade, Curious Pictures, New York
Bade, 41, a longtime agency art director, joined Curious Pictures as a director/designer in June. Bade was formerly at Margeotes Fertitta & Weiss, where he worked on the retro-cool "The Thrill is the Chill" animated campaign for Cappio iced cappuccino in 1991. In 1994, he was a founding member of Amster Yard, McCann-Erickson's New York boutique. His frequently retro-styled, graphics-driven reel features hip, animated Martini & Rossi and Barnes and Noble.com spots, and the beginnings of a move to live action in the "Fly Nestea"
