|Dockery Clark has been named Miller Brewing's director of sports and event marketing.
Ms. Clark, who takes the position Sept. 19, replaces Steve "Jake" Lauletta, who left nine months ago to head a sports marketing company in Charlotte.
Strong sports focus
Miller, a unit of SABMiller, strongly focuses its marketing efforts on young males and sports has long been one of its key areas of interest. It is the naming-rights sponsor of the Milwaukee Brewers' stadium and also sponsors a number of National Football League franchises.
In a statement issued to announce the hire, Miller's chief marketing officer, Tom Long, emphasized the importance of sports-oriented marketing and noted that Ms. Clark "is a seasoned executive with a proven track record of leveraging sports and event marketing to support overall brand-building efforts."
For 11 years Ms. Clark was senior vice president for sports marketing and sponsorship at Bank of America. There, she negotiated and drove strategic planning for all sports and event marketing contracts with teams in the NFL and other professional leagues.
