Mobile virtual community Cellufun named Neil Edwards CEO. Mr. Edwards was most recently the founding CEO of DotMobi, a mobile-web-services company that he grew from a start-up into a multimillion-dollar organization. Mr. Edwards will be charged with launching new revenue-generating services around virtual goods and messaging within the Cellufun social-gaming community, as well as expanding the company's mobile audience internationally. Cellufun partners with global brands and media companies such as AOL and Gannet to deliver branded entertainment and custom-designed mobile-marketing solutions.
SS&K has tapped Jennifer Steele as VP-director of creative production and operations and Mike Moffo as VP-strategic consultant. Ms. Steele will be based in New York and Mr. Moffo in Washington. Ms. Steele was most recently senior VP-director of digital services at Renegade. Mr. Moffo worked with SS&K as former national director-special projects on Barack Obama's presidential campaign; SS&K was the agency of record for the campaign's youth-engagement effort. Both executives were brought in to expand digital capabilities for the marketing and communications agency.
Jeff McCombs was hired as chief financial officer of display-advertising-solutions provider Tumri. He comes to Tumri from Yahoo, where he was senior VP-business operations. Prior to that, he was chief of staff to Yahoo President Sue Decker.
Sam Linsky was promoted to senior VP-current programming for TNT and TBS from VP-current programming, TNT. He joined TNT in 1997 from Castle Rock Entertainment, where he began his career as assistant to the VP-original programming and worked his way up to manager and then director.
Cable-ad-sales veteran Liz Janneman was tapped by Ovation TV as senior VP-ad sales. She comes to Ovation from Current TV, where she was president-ad sales. Before that, she was senior VP-ad sales at the Weather Channel. Ms. Janneman has also held managerial positions at AOL/Time Warner, Turner Entertainment and Saatchi & Saatchi. Ovation TV is a multiplatform network devoted to art and contemporary culture. It reaches a national audience of more than 30 million through DirecTV, Dish Network, and other cable and telco systems.
AdGent 007 appointed Bill Blummer as VP-U.S. sales. He brings more than two decades of experience in media sales to the company, most recently serving as director-national advertising sales at CBS Digital Media.
