NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Three executives in the New York office of WPP Group's Y&R Advertising have been assigned additional leadership responsibilities, Advertising Age has learned.

According to an Oct. 16 internal e-mail from Ron Bess, the head of Y&R's New York office, Ann Hayden, managing partner in the creative department; John Morris, managing partner on Colgate-Palmolive Co.'s Colgate, North America; and John Partilla, founder and CEO of Brand Buzz, an operating unit of Y&R Advertising, as well as head of Sony Corp.'s Sony Consumer Electronics account, are joining a six-person operating committee led by Mr. Bess.

Integrated services
The move is an effort by Mike Dolan, chairman-CEO of Y&R and the agency's parent, Young & Rubicam, to strengthen the New York office and to bolster its delivery of integrated services, according to knowledgeable executives. The memo describes Ms. Hayden and Messrs. Morris and Partilla as "outstanding performers, out-of-the-box thinkers, and dedicated leaders."

Additionally, each of the three has led the development of integrated campaigns for various Y&R Advertising clients: Ms. Hayden on AT&T; Mr. Morris on Colgate; and Mr. Partilla on Sony Consumer Electronics.

This is also regarded as a message to Y&R Advertising employees. "The New York agency has got to move faster delivering clients integrated marketing solutions," said one agency executive who requested anonymity.

A Y&R Advertising spokewoman confirmed the appointments but declined to comment further.
