IT'S OFFICIAL: MEDIA EDGE GETS SCANZONI

By Published on .

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Rino Scanzoni has officially signed with WPP Group's Media Edge as president of broadcast North America.

The agency released an announcement today about the hiring, which was first reported by AdAge.com.

Mr. Scanzoni succeeds Bob Igiel, who retired this year. Mr. Scanzoni's non-compete clause with his previous employer, Bcom3 Group's MediaVest Entertainment, a division of MediaVest North America, does not allow him to assume his duties until next year.

Susan Schoeber, currently director of national broadcast, will continue to run the day-to-day activities through the end of the year.

At MediaVest, Mr. Scanzoni represented movie clients Paramount Pictures and Home Video. However, he brings his movie skills to Media Edge somewhat late in the game; the agency was already dropped from big-budget reviews for New Line Cinema, Walt Disney Co. and Sony Corp., which included the Sony Pictures business.
