Ray Warren Was President-CEO of Raycom Sports

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- OMD USA has hired the former president-CEO of Raycom Sports to be managing director of the Omnicom Group media firm. His appointment is effective Jan. 20.

Ray Warren, 47, will oversee all of OMD's broadcast capabilities as well as its sports marketing and entertainment units. He will report directly to Page Thompson, CEO of OMD North America, and will serve as a member of OMD's North America operating council.

He replaces Dan Rank, who joined

Mr. Warren joined Raycom Sports in 1988 as executive vice president for sales and marketing after having been vice president of ABC News sales. Raycom Sports is a sports marketing, event management and production company that's part of Raycom Media, Montgomery, Ala. He was named Raycom Sports' chief operating officer in 1994, and in 1998 became president-CEO, a position he held until November 2002.

Mr. Warren began his career in media as a network radio buyer in 1976 at Ted Bates Advertising in New York. In 1977, he moved over to BBDO as an ad buyer and then shifted over to Benton & Bowles Advertising. He left Benton & Bowles in 1981 to join ABC Sports Sales as an account executive.
