The shift continues a revolving door of marketing chiefs at Mercedes-Benz; the new VP-marketing will be the fourth since summer 2001 for the brand.
Mercedes-Benz USA will launch its redone C-Class, its best-selling line, in late summer, which Mr. McNabb told Advertising Age earlier this week "will be the most significant campaign for us in the last four or five years."
"We've really got to hit the ground running," he said.
Mr. McNabb succeeds Keith May, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests, the automaker said. Paul Halata, who retired last year as CEO, appointed Mr. May to VP-sales in 2000.
"We owe Keith our gratitude for his many years of outstanding leadership and the significant contributions he has made," Ernst Lieb, president-CEO, said in a prepared statement. "We are confident that Mark McNabb, with all the retail and operations experience he brings to the table, will play a key role in reinforcing and enhancing our leadership in the luxury segment."
