NEW YORK: Carlo Vittorini (l.), chairman of Parade Publications and publisher of Parade and React, presented a check for $10,000 to Steven Culbertson, president-CEO of Youth Service America, to support the 11th annual National Youth Service Day, a celebration of the volunteer efforts of millions of young Americans nationwide. Parade and React are the official publications of the observance, which takes place this year on April 16 and 17 in more than 3,000 communities across the country.

NEW YORK: After more than 40 years in the ad business, Lord Group Chairman Dick Lord (l.) decided it was time to retire. At a party at the agency's office here, Mr. Lord is feted by CEO Jim Hood. During his career Mr. Lord created some of the industry's most memorable advertising, including IBM's "Little Tramp" character.
