Jack Rooney, 46, is joining Campbell Mithun Sept. 15. He wil report to CEO Les Mouser, who previously held the president title.
Mr. Rooney most recently was executive vice president of client management for Omnicom Group's GMR Marketing, a New Berlin, Wis., event marketing firm. Before that he was global team leader at WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago, for the BP account.
His highest profile role was as vice president of marketing for Miller during the late 1990s. He oversaw the launch of the controversial "Dick" ad campaign from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis (then Fallon McElligott), for Miller Lite. The unconventional campaign failed to turn around the faltering brand and he left in 1999.
Prior to Miller, Mr. Rooney put in stints at three San Francisco agencies. They were: Leagas Delaney, as a founding partner; Foote Cone & Belding (now part of Interpublic), where he was worldwide account director for Levi Strauss & Co.; and Hal Riney & Partners, where he worked on Anheuser-Busch.
