Moves Follows Ira Carlin's Shift to Magna Global

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Universal McCann has promoted Robin Kent to chairman-CEO of the Interpublic Group of Cos. media agency.

The move was expected after Mr. Kent's predecessor, Ira Carlin, was named worldwide chairman of Magna Global Worldwide, the media negotiation agency owned by Interpublic.

Currently Chairman of Universal McCann
worldwide president of the media buying and planning agency for the past year and a half and since January of this year also has served as regional director of Universal McCann North America. Earlier, he led Universal McCann Europe/Africa/Middle East.

He joined Universal McCann Europe from Aegis Group's Carat in April 1996.

Also, Interpublic has hired Hans Germeraad, 45, who is leaving his post as chief operating officer, Europe, Middle East and Africa, at WPP Group's Mediaedge:cia to assume the new position of regional director, Magna Global Europe.
