Alex Sion has been named VP-digital strategy, financial services, of Sapient's New York office. Prior to joining Sapient, Mr. Sion was a senior VP at Citi, where he helped establish the myFi, or "my financial life," business unit, a key component of Citi Global Wealth Management's strategy. In his new post, Mr. Sion will focus on helping retail financial-services clients understand how to reach and engage customers by incorporating digital.
Susan Shields has been elevated to senior VP and CMO of Jamba Juice. Ms. Shields previously served as the company's VP-consumer products, licensing and growth initiatives. Prior to joining Jamba, she worked in innovation and product development or marketing for Beautiful Inc., Safeway grocery stores, Del Monte Foods and Quaker Oats Co.
The Sports Authority has named Jeffrey Schumacher exec VP-chief marketing officer and chief strategy officer. Mr. Schumacher, most recently a partner in McKinsey & Company's North American marketing and sales practice, brings more than 15 years of industry experience in marketing, advertising, sales and brand/retail strategy to the post. During his time at McKinsey, he led the company's West Coast marketing and sales practice and served as a global head of the McKinsey Customer Lifecycle Management Solution Center as well as a global leader in its retail practice.
Jim Joseph has joined Lippe Taylor Brand Communications, New York, as president and partner, a new post, as part of an effort by the lifestyle/women-focused agency to expand its services beyond PR into fields such as social media and digital marketing. Mr. Joseph has spent most of his agency career at Publicis. He began his own agency, which was later sold to the Publicis Groupe and merged with two others to form Arc-New York. Most recently he was managing director at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness, New York.
Sony Electronics has hired Linda Turner as senior VP of its retail stores. She will be responsible for the strategic and operational direction for Sony Style stores, including all aspects of the customer experience. Ms. Turner was previously the senior regional director of stores for Apple for seven years. Prior to Apple, she held leadership positions for brands including Williams-Sonoma, Barnes and Noble, Ann Taylor and Talbots.
Discovery Communications has promoted Todd Zander from director-digital media distribution to VP-digital media distribution. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive further distribution for Discovery's digital-media offerings across online and mobile platforms. Mr. Zander recently played a leading role in the launch of the first network-branded iPhone app for Discovery Channel.
Dan Hurwitz has been promoted to VP-sales, East at AudienceSciene, a provider of audience-targeted advertising technology and solutions for digital media. Mr. Hurwitz joined AudienceScience in 2007 as director-sales. He has been in the online-advertising industry for 16 years, with experience at companies including AOL, NBC Internet and About.com. He has also co-managed the East Coast sales team for AOL and was named director-advertising sales and marketing solutions for XM Satellite Radio.
