Scott Tegethoff, who was in charge of another massive media budget, Procter & Gamble Co., at Starcom MediaVest Group, becomes global account director on L'Oreal. Additionally, he will have the title of executive vice president and sit on the board. He will report to Universal McCann CEO Robin Kent.
The move was announced in a statement released by Universal McCann. Comment was not immediately available from SMG or P&G.
The L'Oreal business spans 80 countries, but Mr. Tegethoff's focus will be on the U.S., the media agency said in a statement. The cosmetics marketer spent $608 million on measured media last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
"With the strong media platform we've created for the L'Oreal brands, we've asked him to literally reinvent the way we look at and think about media opportunities," Mr. Kent said in a statement.
Including his tenure at SMG, where he was an executive vice president and communications planning director, Mr. Tegethoff has been at other Publicis Groupe-owned media operations over the past 15 years.
