Sporting News has named Jeff Price as president and publisher. Mr. Price joins Sporting News after more than 20 years in roles throughout the sports industry. Most recently, he spent three and a half years as president of SI Digital. He joined SI in 2002 as VP-CMO, leading all SI brand marketing and sales development. Prior to his time with Sports Illustrated, he was at MasterCard, where he negotiated deals with the MLB, PGA Tour and MLS, and he also collaborated with Fox Sports and MLB to create the MasterCard/MLB All-Century Team.
Saatchi & Saatchi has elevated Maru Kopelowicz to senior VP-global creative director on P&G's Tide/Ariel business worldwide. Since June 2008, Ms. Kopelowicz had been VP-creative director on Tide for North America. She has also been creative director at Conill Advertising in Miami, working on leading Procter & Gamble brands for the Hispanic market such as Tide, Pampers and Crest. Prior to Conill, she was at Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, rising to regional creative director on Pampers Latin America.
Doner has promoted Alison Taubman to exec VP-chief strategy officer. Ms. Taubman was previously senior VP-executive director, strategic planning & research. She will continue oversight of Doner's strategic planning and research teams and will remain a core member of its business development team. Ms. Taubman joined Doner in 1986 as a research project manager.
Dennis Camlek has moved to Turner Broadcasting System as VP-strategic media planning for Turner Media Group. Previously, Mr. Camlek was senior VP and group account director for PHD in New York, where he led planning for the HBO account. Earlier, he served as VP and brand group director for Horizon Media, where he managed the A&E Television Networks account.
Online sports-media brand network SB Nation has launched a new direct sales team with the hiring of two VP-sales, Zach Chapman and David Borstein. Mr. Chapman formerly ran sales for NBCSports.com and NBCOlympics.com. Prior to NBC, he ran national sales for foxsports.com and also served as director-West Coast sales for Sports Illustrated's digital property, SI.com. Mr. Borstein has been in sales for MySpace.com for the last five and a half years. As director of sales, he and his sales team handled the East Coast accounts and created strategic partnerships with Fortune 100 brands such as P&G, Walmart, Wendy's, Sprint, AT&T and Coca-Cola. He has also held key sales positions with Bolt.com and Katrillion Media, a youth news startup.
Chris Palmisano has joined Swire as VP-client solutions. Mr. Palmisano comes to the marketing communications agency from Young & Rubicam, where as senior VP he managed several of Dannon's largest brands, including all children's yogurt brands and the national advertising launch of DanActive in 2007. Prior to Y&R, he managed several parts of Johnson & Johnson's business, including the Band-Aid brand account, while at McCann Erickson.
