TV Guide Network Names Friday Abernethy Exec VP-Affiliate Sales and Marketing

TV Guide Network has appointed Friday Abernethy as exec VP-affiliate sales and marketing. She will play a key role in TV Guide Network's continued rollout of HD programming, as well as its full-screen launches in key markets across the country. Most recently, Ms. Abernethy served as VP-national accounts/field operations for content distribution at MTV Networks. During her tenure, she and her team secured distribution for all of MTV Networks and BET Networks' cable channels across linear TV, online content, video on-demand, HD and other new platforms, and managed distribution deals for 26 MTV Networks/BET Networks brands. She started with MTV Networks in 1998 as an account manager for affiliate sales and marketing.

Sylvia Auton will return to the U.K. to resume her duties as CEO of Time Inc.'s IPC Media, effective Jan 1., 2011. Ms. Auton came to Time Inc.'s U.S. offices two years ago to establish the company's Lifestyle Group, which includes brands Cooking Light, Real Simple, Health, Southern Living, All You, Sunset, This Old House and Coastal Living. In addition to returning to her role as CEO, she will remain as chairman of IPC Media. Evelyn Webster, who has served as CEO of IPC Media for two years, will move to the U.S. as exec VP lifestyle division.

Turner announced two executive promotions: Walker Jacobs was elevated from senior VP-Turner Sports and Entertainment Digital division to exec VP-Turner/ SI digital ad sales, and Andrea Ching has been promoted from VP to senior VP-marketing and promotions for Turner/SI Digital. Both Mr. Jacobs and Ms. Ching played an integral role in the launch of Turner's relationship with Yahoo Sports, which established Turner as the exclusive representative of online advertising sales for the NBA, golf and Nascar pages of Yahoo Sports. Mr. Jacobs has been with Turner since 2007 and Ms. Ching came aboard in 2008.

Arnold Worldwide has promoted Neela Pal, exec VP-global director of brand and business strategy, and Tom Guerin, exec VP-executive director, to also serve as managing partners. Ms. Pal joined Arnold five years ago from McKinsey & Company, where she was a senior engagement manager. Over the past few years, she has helped the agency win new business including Hershey's, Volvo, Carnival Cruise Lines, Panasonic and, most recently, CVS pharmacy. Mr. Guerin has over two decades of experience in advertising and marketing. Prior to Arnold, he served as managing director at Lowe and before that, he held posts at Gardner Nelson & Partners, Inc., BBDO and McCann Erickson. Since joining Arnold more than five years ago, he has guided major accounts including Fidelity and Progressive . Following this promotion, he also assumes a leadership role on the CVS pharmacy account.

AMC has tapped Nancy Kane Leidersdorff as VP-media planning. Ms. Leidersdorff joins AMC from Nickelodeon Networks, where she was VP-media planning in the programming department. She will be based in New York and lead media planning division across the four AMC networks: AMC, AMC HD, AMC Canada and AMC Canada HD networks.

Arenas Entertainment has named Sergio Gonzalez VP-publicity and promotions. Mr. Gonzalez will be responsible for the development and execution of marketing campaigns across all platforms for the U.S. Hispanic-focused entertainment and media agency. Mr. Gonzalez was previously managing director of Terry Hines and Associates, where he oversaw the recreation of its Hispanic division.
