Mr. Rowden will oversee all of Wendy's brand marketing strategies and initiatives, and will manage Wendy's advertising, research, product marketing and field marketing functions and report to Tom Mueller, Wendy's president for North America and chief operating officer.
"Ian is a dynamic executive who has successfully led marketing and advertising for highly respected global brands," said Mr. Mueller in a statement.
One of those global brands is Coca-Cola, where Mr. Rowden was vice president and worldwide director of advertising from 1995-2000, leading all aspects of brand positioning and communications. The Australian native also had been vice president and region director for Coca-Cola China and vice president and director of marketing for Coca-Cola South Pacific.
At Callaway Golf, Mr. Rowden oversaw marketing, branding and product development, launching products including the Great Big Bertha II as well as apparel and shoe lines. Earlier in his career he was director and managing partner for Omnicom Group's DDB Needham Advertising in Australia, and general manager of marketing for Power Brewing Co. in Australia.
