NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Omnicom Group's Zimmerman Advertising has successfully attracted veteran marketer Chris Carroll to the agency world.
After more than 25 years on the client side, Mr. Carroll joined Fort Lauderdale-based Zimmerman as exec VP-chief client officer, the agency announced today. Previously, he held senior marketing positions at Burger King, LensCrafters and Subway. Most recently, he was exec VP-chief marketing officer at Cosi.
"Years ago, we had the opportunity to meet Chris Carroll, then the CMO of Subway," said Jordan Zimmerman, founder and CEO of Zimmerman Advertising, in a statement. "Our team walked away knowing we needed someone just like that on our team to help support our growth and vision."
"We found it impossible to find another Chris Carroll, so we decided to invest in the original," Mr. Zimmerman added.
Mr. Carroll has the agency business in his blood. His brother, Tom Carroll, is president-CEO of Omnicom's TBWA Worldwide. And that sibling connection will become even closer after today's appointment: Zimmerman reports up through TBWA.
According to the most recent data available from Advertising Age, Zimmerman is the 14th-largest ad agency in the U.S., with revenue of $175 million in 2007. Its most notable clients include Friendly's, Papa John's, Nissan, Lane Bryant and Crocs.
With Mr. Carroll's arrival, Scott Thaler was promoted to exec VP-chief interaction officer. Earlier this month, Zimmerman took over creative and media duties for fast-food burger chain White Castle from WPP's JWT, Detroit, and Mindshare.
