Burnett's going to Disneyland Paris

[paris] Disneyland Paris shifted its $40 million European account to Leo Burnett Co. here from WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather. The move ends a nine-year collaboration between Disney and Ogilvy, Paris, and consolidates more Disney business at Burnett, which already handles Walt Disney World and Disneyland in the U.S., plus other Walt Disney Co. assignments. Burnett's tasks include a wide-ranging overhaul of Disney's European ad strategies as well as the 2002 launch of a cinema-oriented theme park and a massive shopping mall adjacent to the existing park, which already draws 12.5 million visitors annually.

Dr. Martens prescribes Starcom

[london] Dr. Martens assigned Starcom Motive International its estimated $10 million global media planning and buying account. Manning Gottlieb Media previously handled. Starcom Motive is part of the recently formed $16.6 billion Starcom MediaVest Group media holding company, owned by Bcom3 Group.

ING Barings breaks $10 mil campaign

[london] International investment bank ING Barings unveiled a $10 million global campaign highlighting its worldwide industry sector knowledge with local "hands-on" expertise. The print, Internet and TV effort is themed "In a word ING Barings." The push from Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide will break initially in international publications such as Business Week, The Economist, Euro- money, Financial Times, Institutional Investor and The Wall Street Journal. ING Barings has 89 offices in 49 countries.

JWT gives Day global Unilever role

[london] J. Walter Thompson Co. named Derek Day, creative partner and one of the founders of Partners BDDH, to the new post of worldwide creative director on Unilever, JWT's second-largest global account. Tim Davis, JWT's global business director, noted Unilever's "new focus on its portfolio of global and regional brands." Mr. Day said: "Developing great campaigns that cross borders is one of the major challenges for our industry. My aim at JWT is to help create global campaigns that rival the very best local work, across all media." Unilever brands handled by JWT include Lipton, Lux, Organics, Oxo, Persil and Sunsilk.
