Absolut Angel grants reward digital artists
Absolut Vodka's Absolut Citron last week launched Absolut Angel, a grant program designed to identify artists with creative concepts that show how the digital age will mix artistic expression with technology. The program will run online at www.absolutangel.com. Absolut's traditional agency, TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York, worked with Red Sky Interactive, San Francisco, the interactive agency that designed Absolut Vodka's Web site (www.absolutvodka.com), to develop the interactive program.
Three winners will each receive $50,000 in seed money to help develop their concepts. A print campaign promoting the program from TBWA/Chiat/Day will break next month in U.S. News & World Report, Forbes and Wired.
Excite's Lola Pandora begins 10-city tour
Excite@Home brings Lola Pandora, an Excite Web talk show host, out of cyberspace this week when it kicks off a national tour with the celebrity July 15 at the Century Club in Los Angeles. The host of Excite's "Talkin' Trash Live with Lola Pandora" is an interactive talk show that began in January. The show is going on a 10-city tour, which will be Webcast on Excite (www.excite.com/lola).
Former DDB executive launches Web shop
Kathy Sharpe, former director of interactive marketing at DDB Worldwide, has launched Sharpe Partners, New York. The consultancy will be devoted to helping marketers establish a Web presence through online advertising and e-commerce and leveraging the Internet to achieve business goals. The consultancy's client list includes Fuji Photo Film USA, Mobil Corp. and Parallel Capital, a commercial mortgage lender.
Staples picks i-traffic to guide online efforts
Staples retained i-traffic, New York, to handle online advertising and direct marketing for Staples.com, its online unit. I-traffic will manage creative development, media planning and media buying.

Schwab joins rivals E*Trade and Fidelity Investments in deploying net.Analysis. . . . Four Points Digital, Chicago, named Sandy Scherling, director of client services at Organic, San Francisco, to the new post of senior VP-managing director of Four Points Digital, San Francisco, starting July 15. Four Points also said it had landed a piece of business from an online company in the financial services category.
