Matt Thornhill, founder of the Martin Interactive unit of the Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., this week joined Cadmus Communications' Cadmus Interactive, Tucker, Ga., as president. At Cadmus, Mr. Thornhill will manage a staff of 40, compared to 11 at Martin Interactive. Cadmus Communications, a company with $400 million in revenues, has business interests in periodicals, graphic communications and direct marketing.
Several executives have shifted posts at Hearst HomeArts Network (http://www.homearts.com). Scott English becomes director-network business development from director-advertising sales and promotion. Frank Ball replaces him, taking the title director-advertising; Mr. Ball was previously associate publisher of Mecklermedia Corp.'s iWorld (http://www.iworld.com). Jupiter Communications reported that 36 million U.S. households will be online by 2000; the growth will occur in part because PC penetration will increase by 55%. In addition, Jupiter expects non-PC devices such as TV sets will emerge as a major source of connection to the Web, with 16% of all Internet access coming from those platforms. Separately, International Data Corp. expects commerce on the Internet to hit $100 billion by 2000, up from $3 billion last year.
