IBM launched one of the most celebrated tech campaigns ever 25 years ago Sept. 5 with Charlie Chaplin-inspired TV spots1 to introduce the IBM Personal Computer, a product that would reshape an industry. IBM last year exited the PC business as CEO Sam Palmisano focused more on services and software, but the stock on his watch is a Big Blue bust.
