75 Years of the Coca-Cola Santa

St. Nick has come to town-to a Jazz at Lincoln Center exhibit featuring Haddon Sundblom's paintings of the jolly old elf for Coca-Cola, originally commissioned by D'Arcy in 1931. Those unable to travel to New York can mouse over to the Santa gallery at mycokerewards.com. Coke will donate 75› (up to $25,000) for each online visitor during the month of December. Recipient? The Salvation Army.

dewars toasts itself

Few days on distillers' calendars are more hallowed than Dec. 5, the anniversary of prohibition's repeal. To mark the date this year, Dewar's took out a two-page spread in The New York Times, and on it reprinted the paper's front page reporting the 18th Amendment's demise. That history is a little self-serving, of course, as Dewar's also takes the time to remind consumers that its White Label was the first legal Scotch whisky to make it back to U.S. shores. Agency: Studio Number One, Los Angeles. Creative director: Shepard Fairly. Designers/art directors: Matt Goldman, Kristian Henson. Copywriters: Matt Goldman, Kristian Henson, Zach Gibson.
