Design ABC's
ABC of 20th Century Graphics, published by Electa Architecture, is a collection of annotated texts by architecture and design historian Sergio Polano, selected from published works, lectures and previously unpublished material. Polano summarizes the problems faced by a designer working in the field of graphics, then presents a series of concise chapters examining the work of the principal graphic designers of the 20th century. There are profusely illustrated chapters on Peter Behrens, El Lissitzky, Alexander Rodchenko, Ed Fella, Tibor Kalman and many others. Seen here is a 1923 Rodchenko poster on behalf of Resinotrest Pacifiers, with text by Vladimir Mayakovsky. And we threw in some more art, just 'cause we can. See www.phaidon.com for more.
