DESIGN: A Pocket-Sized Talent Showcase From the ADC
Published on .
The Art Directors Club in New York has published Young Guns 5, a limited-edition book documenting its most recent biennial showcase of international visual communications talent age 30 and under. Produced in collaboration with the makers of Moleskine, the elastic-banded Italian notebook long favored by artists and writers, Young Guns 5 is designed by Alan Dye, former design director at Kate Spade, and a Young Guns advisory board member, who recently joined the design staff at Apple Inc. "The small, solid format creates a greater sense of intimacy," says Dye of the tiny tome. Designer Joanna Maher, who worked with Dye on the project, adds, "Our intention was to display the ADC Young Guns' many different styles and media in the best possible way while keeping the design unified and neat." In the PDF are a few spreads from the book, featuring the work of: 2) Jordan Kleinman 3) Kristofer Delaney 4) Leif Parsons 5) Philippe Richardson and 6) Ted McGrath. The $40 book is available from the ADC; see ADCAwards.org for details.
