EVENTS: "Illustration Today" at Parsons The New School for Design

Nov. 11, at The New School's Tishman Auditorium, 66 W. 12th St. in New York, Parsons The New School for Design will present "Illustration Today: A Symposium on the State of the Art," organized by the Parsons department of illustration. The daylong conference will bring together illustrators, animators, toy designers, writers, artists and producers to assess the evolution of the field. "Illustration is entering into a golden age, as new opportunities in motion graphics, toy design and graphic novels are rapidly opening up, and older avenues, such as children's books, are being reinvented," says Steven Guarnaccia, illustration chair at Parsons and co-moderator of the event. Participants include Artforum critic Sarah Boxer; illustrators George Hardie, Maira Kalman, Peter Sis, Peter De S
