EXHIBITIONS: Campari's "A Passionate Image" Celebrates the Body
Published on .
Opening Friday, Nov. 11, and running through Nov. 19, at New York's Steven Kasher Gallery, 521 West 23rd St., the House of Campari presents "A Passionate Image: The Body in Art and Advertising." The show features the work of Richard Avedon, Ellen Von Unwerth, Matthew Rolston, Cindy Sherman and David LaChapelle, among others, and Campari bills it as an examination of "the relationship between art, advertising and the human form, chronicling the ways art and advertising have influenced one another over the past 30 years, focusing on how artists, particularly photographers, have captured the sensual body." Seen here is a previously unpublished image from the show, by Marilyn Minter. The nude hunk in the PDF is by Matthias Vriens, titled "Robbyn St. Clair, Sisley, LA Noir," courtesy of Projectile Gallery, NYC. See www.campariusa.com for more.
