Through Dec. 3 at the School of Visual Arts' Visual Arts Museum, 209 E. 23rd St., SVA honors art director, illustrator and designer Heinz Edelmann, recipient of the 2005 Masters Series Award, with a retrospective exhibition. The show features more than 100 posters, screen prints, magazine spreads, book designs, animations and comic books spanning Edelmann's career — he was born in 1934 in the former Czechoslovakia and he currently lives in Amsterdam. Probably best known for his work as art director on the 1968 animated Beatles feature Yellow Submarine
, his oeuvre includes illustrations for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
magazine (one of which leads this showcase), posters for German radio station Westdeutscher Rundfunk and book covers for Stuttgart publishing house Klett-Cotta. See the PDF for some of this work and see www.schoolofvisualarts.edu
