Getty Images' "New Photographers 2007," a showcase of the work of 35 photographers who "are destined to make a significant impact in the world of advertising," as it's billed, is at New York's Art Directors Club, 106 W. 29th St., Sept. 11-15. As Getty senior VP-group creative director Lewis Blackwell explains, some of these photographers "are local stars meriting a larger stage; some have achieved success on the editorial side but employ techniques that could also enliven advertising; and others are just plain provocative." Speaking of which, we open with the work of Phillip Toledano, who "uses the power of photography — the trust we have in its observed reality — to convey absurd and unnerving visions," says Blackwell. Also in the PDF are images by 2) Ricardo Barcellos, 3) Bela Borsodi, 4) Annie Collinge, 5) Cao Fei, 6) Peter Funch, 7) Nienke Klunder, and 8) Holger Pooten.
