PHOTOGRAPHY: Vice Magazine Hosts a Show in New York
Published on .
Through July 21, the sixth annual "Vice Magazine Photo Issue Exhibition" is at Silverstein Photography, 535 W. 24th St., in New York. The show, curated by Vice editor Jesse Pearson and photo editor Patrick O'Dell, features the work of Ryan McGinley, Richard Kern, Terry Richardson and Roe Ethridge, among others, including Jerry Hsu and Jaimie Warren, who are "Vice's favorite photographers right now," says Vice director of business development Ben Dietz. Hsu, from San Jose, "is best known as a professional skateboarder, but years of constant touring around the world have enabled him to capture a portfolio of images — some bizarre, some shocking — in places that most viewers would never dream of going," says Dietz. "Jaimie Warren snaps photos obsessively, capturing the minutiae and randomness of her daily life and the weird adventures of her friends. Serendipitous and funny, her photos flash seamlessly between unforced action and amazing coincidences that feel so perfect they seem staged." In the PDF are some images by Hsu (1-4) and Warren (5-7).
