GarageFonts announces its first release for 2004: Metroflex, by designer Thomas Mettendorf of Karlsruhe, Germany. According to GarageFonts, Metroflex is a multipurpose type system based on geometric principles and conceived as an "experimental vision" for Fritz Lang's 1926 silent film Metropolis
. Hence it's "engineered like a machine, urban and precise — an experiment created within the vision of Metropolis
and simultaneously a usable communication tool for contemporary design." See www.garagefonts.com
