INSTALLATION ART: Scion's Neo-Cubism

Published on .

Scion's ongoing celebration of the all-new 2008 xB urban utility vehicle — a prelaunch campaign engineered by San Francisco's Attik — included a pair of "Want2BSquare" art shows, one in New York at Skylight Studios on April 6, and another on April 21 at the Scion Installation L.A. gallery in Culver City, Calif. Seven artists were commissioned to create original works inspired by the boxy xB, painted on both 48x48 and 24x24 canvases, which were assembled into cubes suspended from the ceiling at various heights throughout the gallery. This allowed viewers to experience the art from under the box, as it were. All artwork was for sale, with all proceeds going directly to the artists. Seen here is the contribution of Freddi C, and in the PDF you'll find the work of 2) Dalek 3) Kelsey Brookes 4) Matzu 5) Maya Hayuk 6) Sage Vaughn and 7) Dustin Amery Hostetler, aka UPSO.
