P22's New Computer Font Sets

Published on .

P22's type
P22 Type Foundry announces four new font sets. Garamouche "was designed with the art of olde time printing in mind," says the company. "Based on the effect of uneven lines and bumpy paper, the characters in Garamouche Regular appear to dance along the baseline. What's with the funny name? It has been suggested that Garamouche Regular is the drunken cousin of the historically significant typeface Garamond."

The P22 Woodcut set features three fonts "inspired by the woodcuts of Edward Munch and other Expressionist artists. The Woodcut font has the look of letters carved out of artists' printing blocks, with distinctive upper and lower bracket lines." Goudy's Aries set of three fonts "was derived from Frederic Goudy's rare Aries font. The Aries font set also includes decorative ornaments and a font set entirely composed of a variety of ampersands." Woodtype "is a set of four fonts based on 19th century American wooden printing types. Two fonts offer a regular upper and lower case with a small-caps option. Two additional dingbat fonts feature over 150 decorative extras."

All font sets are $23.95; see www.p22.com for more info.
