Stink (and its U.S. arm Skunk's) collaborations with digital arm Stinkdigital stood out this year, with a knack of combining film, products, social media and interactive experiences to create the unexpected for brands.
Examples included Red Stripe's Make Music in the Corner Shop, in which products started "performing" as soon as a customer picked a Red Stripe lager from the shelves. The film of the stunt, through KesselsKramer, was directed by new Skunk signing Greg Brunkalla, whose spot for Coke featuring L.A. street dancers picked up a Silver Lion at Cannes. Meanwhile Stink's Yann Demange directed You Drive, an interactive spot for Mercedes Benz that lets the audience direct the car via Twitter. Phillips The Sound of Creation, an interactive website/online film from Tribal DDB, was created in collaboration with another new Stink signing, Sweden's Gustav Johannson.
In mainstream spots, Stink Films directors such as Adam Berg continued to give us stirring work including Nike's My Time Is Now. (Berg also picked up silver and bronze lions at Cannes, and Gold and Silver Clios for last year's TalkTalk's Homes Within Homes spot.) Martin Krejci directed several noteworkthy spots including Festival, for German DIY store Hornbach, through Heimat Berlin. Ivan Zacharias continued VW's See Film Differently spots with some excellent work including a take on Silence of the Lambs.
Skunk produced a slew of impressive work including Unicef's Tap Project, directed by Brent Harris and Capri-Sun's Bear, directed by Ne-O. And from another Stink company, Rokkit, we liked Adidas' spot for its Space Diver shoe, directed by Alex & Steffen, and featuring the out of this world "Snoop Lion."
Meanwhile, the company expanded to Brazil with an office in Sao Paolo, with its first spot "Pet Shop", created by agency F / Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi for Trident, and directed by new signings, the duo Jones + Tino. Stink also announced the production of its first feature film, Lilting, starring Ben Whishaw and directed by Hong Khaou.
