Bollywood director Shekhar Kapur has joined the roster at Independent Films in London. After beginning his career in India, Kapur received international recognition in 1998 for directing "Elizabeth," starring Cate Blanchett, which was nominated for seven Oscars and won the Oscar for Best Make-up. He also directed Heath Ledger in "The Four Feathers" and returned to direct Blanchett in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age." He also directed a segment of the anthology film "New York, I Love You," and is the creator, executive producer and director of TV series "Rasputin" for FX. His branded work includes short film "The Passage", commissioned by Swarovski and starring Julia Stiles, Lily Cole and Haley Bennett, as well as a commercial for Schweppes, featuring Nicole Kidman.
Director Kathi Prosser has joined The Sweet Shop for global representation, moving from Moxie Pictures. Prosser has shot commercials for the likes of Guinness, Molson, Lux, Dove, Tresemme, Apple, AT&T, and JCPenney. She began her career in graphic design creating album art for companies like BMG, Sony Music, EMI, and Columbia before directing the Grammy-nominated "Mega Mix" videos for Moby's album, "Play". For four years she ran multimedia firm The Wing Group, where she did several projects including the short films "Death's Fable," "Fly or Fall," and "Horses Never Lie."
Biscuit Filmworks has signed director Ruairi Robinson to its roster for commercial representation. Originally from Ireland, Robinson is known for a viral short, "The Leviathan." A futuristic retelling of "Moby Dick," it went viral on its release in March this year and is currently in development as a feature film at Twentieth Century Fox. Robinson made his feature film debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 with "The Last Days On Mars," a sci-fi thriller starring Liev Schreiber. In addition to film, Robinson has worked on commercials for Cadillac, Kia, The Observer, and more. He is also repped by Spy Films in Canada, Henry De Czar in France, and Russell Curran in Ireland.
Entertainment and media company Alldayeveryday has signed Ghost+Cow, the Brooklyn-based directing duo comprised of Brandon LeGanke and John Carlucci. Ghost+Cow specialize in music videos, films, commercials, and branded content, with work that has screened at Slamdance, SXSW, Telluride, Milano and Cannes Lions. Their work includes the film "Drone Boning," a commentary on voyeurism and privacy invasion in the 21st century that earned millions of media impressions as a viral.
Wilfrid Park has added director Vance Malone to itsroster. Malone, who has worked on campaigns for Adidas, Nike and Goodwill, is also known for documentary filmmaking. His recent film "The Poodle Trainer" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His awards include a Cannes Lion for the Ad Council spot "Cheerleader", and a Green Award for Excellence in Communication for his work for Subaru with DDB NY.
Andy Nicholas has joined Glassworks London as a lead 3D artist. Nicholas, who recently worked on Honda's "Endless Road" spot for Glassworks as a freelancer, is a former head of 3D at Rushes and has also worked at The Mill. He is currently working as a VFX Supervisor on two shoots in L.A.
Native Content has formed a partnership with Schrom & Co. for tabletop commercials and digital content. Director/cinematographer Michael Schrom has worked on tabletop commercials for brands including Nikon, Neutrogena, Folgers, Miller, Kraft, General Mills, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Dunkin' Donuts, and Heineken. The alliance also offers Schrom & Co. a West coast base.
New York/San Francisco-based content creation and production company Bodega has signed director Mark Rosenberg for his first commercial representation. His recent work includes two music videos for the Tony-nominated musical "On The Town" as well as a series of branded documentary shorts for Pivot TV and New Amsterdam Vodka.
Los Angeles-based production company Crush+lab has apppointed editor Scott Butzer to its team as head of editorial. Butzer began his career at Whitehouse Post in Santa Monica before moving to Final Cut, where he worked on campaigns for clients such as Gatorade, Mazda, Motorola, and Audi. Other notable projects include cutting Fabien Mortorell's short film "Unbelief," and working on a film about Haim for the Red Bull documentary "Sound and Vision" directed by Mike Piscitelli.
Ewanme, a new virtual post-production facility led by co-founders Ewan MacLeod and Fasa Oyibo, has launched in London. MacLeod was formerly the director of integrated production at Prodigious, Publicis' in-house production facility, and founding partner of Golden Square and Disqo. Oyibo was a VFX artist/supervisor at ETC, Golden Square, Glassworks and Prime Focus London.
San Francisco agency and production company Little Red Robot is expanding its operations with a full-service office in New York's Union Square, headed up by Lee Scharfstein as EP/director of production. Scharfstein has worked at agencies such as AKQA, Razorfish, and Firstborn, while on the production company side, his experience is with live-action/VFX hybrid production companies Brand New School, Eyeball, and 1st Ave Machine.
