Outsider has signed British director James Lees for U.K. commercial representation. His first short film, "The Apology Line," won numerous awards and his film "Pockets" was named one of the top ten short documentaries ever made by Channel 4. He moved to directing music videos for artists including OneRepublic, Justin Bieber, Lil Dicky and Bloc Party and has directed commercial campaigns for brands such as Beats by Dr. Dre, Converse, the BBC and Bacardi.
Caviar has signed Lebanese filmmaker Jessy Moussallem to its roster in London, Amsterdam and Brussels. Moussallem's work includes her film "Danse à Deux Temps," filmed in Lebanon on a shoestring budget, which was awarded a Staff Pick on Vimeo. Her latest music video for Mashrou' Leila, "Roman," was a co-production between Clandestino Films and Caviar and featured one hundred women, in an ode to Arab women and their fight for feminist action. She is currently working on fiction and documentary projects.
Director Jon Barber has joined Raucous Content for representation. Barber has worked in Canada, Europe and the U.S. on everything from commercials to short films and music videos, and directed spots for Burger King, BMW, Coca-Cola, Chobani, Doritos, FedEx, Mercedes, Timberland and McDonald's. He won a trophy for The One Show's Call for Entry competition for his "Young Guns" Music Video.
Grand Central Recording Studios has added Ben Wilkins to its roster as a guest sound designer. Wilkins was recognized with both an Oscar and a BAFTA for his work on the movie "Whiplash." Other projects include "Starship Troopers," "Dazed and Confused," "Stargate," "The Last Samurai," "The Fast and The Furious" and "Star Trek."
Convoy Content, a commercial, branded content and film production company, is launching in Los Angeles, led by executive producer Jared Christensen, from creative agency and production company Stun Creative. Convoy is backed by Stun Creative, but operates independently under Christensen's leadership. Its roster of directors includes Fiona McGee, a Sydney-based director specializing in comedy and documentary: Benoit Gabriel, who has worked on campaigns for AT&T, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nestlé, Walgreens and Visa; Joe Grasso, a cinematographer and commercial director based in Los Angeles; TV comedy director Jay Karas; Canadian-born director, writer, producer, and editor Andrew De Zen; and emerging director, cinematographer and writer Cameron Gade.
Production company Lucky 21 has appointed Brandon Tapp as executive producer, based at its new Austin office known as "Camp Lucky." Tapp has produced spots for GMC, AT&T, Walmart, 7-Eleven, McDonald's, Blue Cross Blue Shield, RAM Trucks and Valero. In addition to live action, he produces for music houses and has performed and co-produced musical compositions for commercials for Google, John Deere, Tide, Toyota, Southwest Airlines and Nissan.
Fashion and luxury collective Great Bowery has opened a production agency, Great Bowery Film, in New York and London, with a roster of directors, photographers, art and creative directors, designers and animators. Shannon Lords will be executive producer, having joined Great Bowery earlier this year from Humble. Great Bowery Film will also have in-house partnerships with agencies such as CLM, M.A.P, Streeters, Bernstein & Andriulli, and Wenzell & Co, who represent talent including Inez and Vinoodh, Mikael Jansson, Platon and Morgan Spurlock.
