Reset has signed director J.C. Chandor, best known for the 2011 film "Margin Call," to its roster. Chandor was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film and has since directed Robert Redford in "All is Lost," and Jessica Chastain in "A Most Violent Year." He directed commercials and corporate videos for 15 years prior to "Margin Call."
Passion Paris, the French studio of Passion Pictures, has added director and CG specialist Samuel Tourneux to its roster. In 2007 his short film "Meme les pigeons vont au paradis" ("Even Pigeons Go To Heaven") was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Short and since then he has directed numerous commercials and shorts, including three for the "Despicable Me" franchise; "Banana", "Home Makeover" and "Orientation Day." His first film made in collaboration with Passion has been created by Leo Burnett for Coco Pops Porridge.
ModOp Films has signed German director Juergen Bollmeyer for commercial representation. Bollmeyer has directed spots for brands such as Audi, BMW, Chevy, Coca-Cola, Deutsche Bank, Jaguar, Smart, Toyota and UBS. In 2014 he won Cannes Health Silver Lion for a spot for Stryker. He worked as a freelance copywriter for brands and networks before turning to directing.
Sydney-based Exit Films has appointed Kim Wildenburg as executive producer. Wildenburg is relocating back to her native Sydney after working for 11 years in the U.S. running the Mill's design and content division, Mill+, out of Los Angeles. There, she produced campaigns for clients such as Nike, Coca- Cola, Gatorade, Google and The Oscars as well as the 2014 Pepsi Super Bowl campaign. Her work for the "It's On Us" campaign, which featured numerous celebrities standing up against sexual assault, was premiered at The White House. Previous to Mill+, she spent six years working at Psyop, as executive producer of its L.A. office.
Little Minx has signed director Caleb Slain for commercial representation. Slain's work includes Microsoft's "Surface" launch spot, and he won Volvo's 2012 international brand contest with his short film "Designed Around You." His short film "It Ain't Over" premiered at SXSW 2012 and won Audience Awards at the Santa Cruz and Heartland film festivals.
Jonathan Hooker, partner and creative director for five years at digital agency The Flock, has founded his own technical digital production company, Oblio. Hooker's past experience also includes a role as lead developer at Trigger LLC, where he worked on projects for 20th Century Fox, Dreamworks, Lionsgate Entertainment, and Nike. Oblio's first work includes an interactive Facebook Connect-enabled haunted house built for the horror movie "Insidious: Chapter 3."
Nice Shoes colorist and partner Lez Rudge is leaving the New York post production studio in order to concentrate on his directorial career. Rudge has been signed by Mugsy Media for commercial projects and will be represented by Good One Inc. for television promos and broadcast work. He has worked at Nice Shoes since 1999, on color grading for brands including Revlon, Avon, Canon, Maybelline, GE and Dewar's. So far his directorial work includes a spot for fashion brand This Is A Love Song and a PSA about feeling beautiful in the face of alopecia, entitled "Beautiful In My Eyes."
Director Neil Tardio Jr. has joined the roster of L.A.-based production company Mrs. Bond for exclusive U.S. spot representation and will be a partner in the production company, which was previously known as Recommended Media. Tardio is best known for his comedic work for clients such as AT&T, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, ESPN, McDonald's, Nike, Virgin and Volkswagen. A former agency producer and copywriter, he has also directed music videos for artists such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queen Latifah.
