Director Owen Trevor -- recently known for the "Sweet" campaign for McVitie's through Grey London -- has joined Stink for representation, moving over from Passion Raw, the live action division of Passion Pictures. Raised in Australia, Trevor splits his time between L.A. and London and has also helmed spots for the likes of Volkswagen, Walls, and Range Rover. Also returning to Stink after four years is executive producer Dan Scott-Croxford. After leaving his job as head of sales in 2011, he has spent the last few years heading up Passion Raw.
Director and creative Rob Meltzer, who helmed Dove's Super Bowl spot "Real Dad Moments," has teamed up with producer Sven Shelgren to launch Ringer, a creative studio based in Los Angeles. Meltzer earlier directed spots including "Baby Symphony" for Coca-Cola and an ad for Bono's AIDS charity Red. He is also known for his promos for shows such as "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Conan" and "The Big Bang Theory," as well as Bravo's annual "Summer by Bravo" branding campaign. Shelgren has worked in both New York and Los Angeles as executive producer for Jon Francis, Stiefel & Co and Dektor Film. And he spent two years at the Crash & Sues post-production facility in Minneapolis.
RSA has added director Ben Mor to its roster for commercial representation. Mor, who continues to be repped by Black Dog in the U.S. and U.K. for music videos, has directed spots for clients such as Pepsi, Verizon, HP, ESPN, Tanqueray, Chevrolet, Miller Genuine Draft, Microsoft and Coca-Cola. He began his career as a musician and composer and has worked on music videos for the likes of Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, John Legend and NAS.
B-Reel has signed Eivind Holmboe to its roster of directors. Holmboe, who moves from @radical.media, began his career as a copywriter at Deutsch LA after graduating from The Art Institute in San Francisco. He has worked on projects for brands including McDonald's and Volkswagen. He is currently developing his first self-written feature film project. Separately, B-Reel has appointed Melina Polly as managing director in L.A., Keith White as global talent director, and Johann Laeschke as managing director in Berlin. Polly joins B-Reel from TBWA/Media Arts Lab while White has worked at Media Arts Lab and Wieden & Kennedy, and Laeschke at AKQA.
Australasian production company Finch has hired Corey Esse as managing director. Esse, who will head up Finch Film Production and will be responsible for managing production in both Australia and New Zealand, was previously the managing director and executive producer of Exit Films for two years after returning from a job as head of production at Fallon in Minneapolis. Before that he spent 17 years at Mojo, where he was the head of production in Australia and New Zealand. To coincide with the signing, Finch will open a Melbourne office to better serve the advertising community in Victoria.
Slim Pictures has signed director Jason Headley for commercial representation. Specializing in comedic work, he has directed ads for Reliant Energy, TiVo, Mass Mutual, and AMC Networks, among others, as well as sponsored content for Sundance and Heineken. His short films have been featured on NBC's Today Show, SundanceTV, and the front pages of Funny or Die and Reddit.
London-based content studio Squire has signed Michelle Coomber as a director. Coomber has directed both documentaries and commercials, and has previously worked through Passion Pictures and Cowboy. Recent campaigns have included Philips' "Vision 2015" for DDB and "Carbon City" for the United Nations environment program, UNEP. She is in production on a Margaret Thatcher documentary called "Generation Right," and earlier worked with Kevin Macdonald on the 2012 Bob Marley film, "Marley."
New York-based The Colony has signed Hughes William Thompson to its roster of directors available for commercial content creation. Thompson was awarded the 2014 Young Director Award at Cannes for his short film "A New Man". The film was made possible with a grant from the Kevin Spacey Foundation.
